Since January 2008 vehicles driving in or through the environmental zones in Germany need to meet exhaust gas standards and present this in form of a badge - the environmental badge (german: Umweltplakette or Feinstaubplakette).
The matter ist to improve the quality for all citizens and tourists and of course to prevent damaging the environment from CO2-emmision. The Badges are available in three colors and depend on the emmision that the car creates.
Euro 2 is red, Euro 3 is yellow and Euro 4 (or higher) is green.
While petrol vehicles with a catalytic converter always get a green Badge (Euro 4), vehicles with diesel get either a red, yellor or green environmental badge. The environmental badge is needed to drive in or through the german environmental zones. Without an environmental badge you will have to pay a very high fine.
You can order a environmental badge here for only 12 Euro a piece (others take more than 40 Euro!). We also print your sign with a machine what looks way better than writing it with a pen.
